Frequently Asked Questions

If you’re considering coaching, you probably have questions about how it works, what to expect, and whether it’s the right fit. Here are answers to the most common questions I hear from leaders.
  • What is coaching, and how is it different from consulting or mentoring?

Coaching is a collaborative process that helps you think clearly, explore new perspectives, and find solutions that fit your unique situation. Unlike consulting, I won’t hand you a pre-made plan. Unlike mentoring, I’m not asking you to follow my path. Instead, I guide you through a process of exploration, clarity, and action so you can create your own plan and move forward with confidence.

  • Who do you work with?

I work with leaders at all levels — from senior executives to emerging managers — in both the private and public sectors. While I have extensive experience in higher education leadership, my coaching approach applies to leaders in any industry who want clarity, strategic focus, and stronger team results.

  • How do I know if coaching is right for me?

Coaching may be a good fit if you’re seeking clarity on your goals or next steps, want a trusted sounding board for complex decisions, are navigating change or uncertainty, or wish to strengthen your leadership presence and impact.

  • How does a coaching engagement work?

We start with a free 30-minute discovery call to discuss your needs and what you want to achieve. If we decide to work together, we’ll agree on a coaching schedule — typically 60-minute sessions every 2–4 weeks, conducted virtually or in person depending on your location.

  • How many sessions will I need?

It depends on your goals. Some clients work with me for three to six months to address a specific challenge, while others choose ongoing coaching as part of their long-term leadership development. We’ll design the engagement to match your needs and timeline.

  • What if my organization is paying for my coaching?

That’s common. I can work with you and your organization to ensure the coaching supports both your personal goals and your organization’s priorities, while maintaining confidentiality in our sessions.

  • How confidential are our sessions?

Completely. Coaching conversations are private and confidential, unless you choose to share information with others. If your organization is funding the coaching, I can provide progress updates only with your consent.
